Two Days Trip To Bahariya Oasis (Western Desert)

Two Days Trip To Bahariya Oasis

During my three weeks solo trip to Egypt, it was one of the best to explore Bahariya, an oasis town of Egypt’s Western Desert. I had a two-day trip to Bahariya Oasis while enjoying a jeep safari and camping tour in the oasis. The natural beauty of Bahariya with deserts and rock formations is unique and worthwhile to visit in winter. It was my first camping tour and became an adventurous one.

Baharia Oasis is about 370 km from Cairo and took 4 hours to reach the destination. I booked a tour package and left Cairo at 7 AM. The tour guide picked me from the hotel. We took the road to Egypt’s 6th of October in a private car. The entire journey was enjoyable for the beautiful highway.

You may also visit Baharia Oasis from Giza. But the regular bus services are only available from Cairo to Bahariya.

Our prebooked Land Cruiser was ready at the main tourist point of Baharia Oasis. The driver picked us to explore around for two days. Read more inside to get the itinerary and highlights of the entire Bahariya Oasis tour in Egypt.

The main highlights of the two-day trip to Bahariya Oasis are Black Desert, Crystal Mountain, Valley of Agabat, and the White Desert.

Day 1

Black Desert, Crystal Mountain, Valley of Agabat, Valley of El Haize, White Desert National Park

The first-day sightseeing tour started after a Bedouin lunch from one local eatery on the 6th of October. After getting fresh, it was nice to have lunch with Egyptian food in a Bedouin-style. They served lentil soup, Arabic bread with fried eggplant, hummus, and fresh salads.

I liked the surrounding of the restaurant. They also sell local dates; it is a must to try if you love dates fruits, one of my favorite always.

We then first head to visit Black Desert. This desert was filled with many small and black-topped hillocks of volcanic origin. The farther you’ll look around, you’ll feel like nobody is around you besides dozens of small hills like Pyramid.

On the way, you can also visit the natural hot spring of the Valley of El Haize.

Next, we drove to Crystal Mountain to explore a ridge made of sparkling quartz crystals. It was fantastic to see all the natural quartz crystals.

The tour continued, and we reached the lovely Valley of Agabat close to the Crystal Mountain. The magical beauty of the Agabat Valley made me speechless. The landscape is outstanding for the rocky formations. We had passed some great sand dunes, and it was perfect for enjoying sandboarding.

Then we continued to drive to the White Desert National Park. Just before sunset, we reached the White Desert. It is the most popular desert destination in Egypt. The quantity of bizarre and beautiful wind-carved rock formations shaped in many various forms made it a unique one in the world.

I became astonished to see many surreal sculptures of the rocks that nature has shaped for thousands of years in the White Desert National Park. Many natural rock formations resemble giant mushrooms, rabbits, chickens, leopards, camels, hawk, skulls, and more.

It was a solo camping tour, and I stayed overnight in a tent at the White Desert. The tour guide and the driver accompanied me. The driver became a chef in the tent and arranged all the meals for us. There was also a separate tent for me, and it was all safe.

Overall arrangements were good; I had a fun time in the campfire. You’ll even love to look at the sky at night for the stars if the sky is clear. We enjoyed a fire-roasted dinner with grilled chicken kebab, yellow rice, vegetables, fruits, and salads.

It is too cold in the desert, so don’t miss camping essentials to pack, especially proper warm clothes and sleeping bags to enjoy comfortable camping under the open sky. Day 2

White Desert National Park, Black Desert, Mummies Museum

The second day in the Bahariya Oasis became a memorable one after watching the sunrise from the spectacular White Desert National Park. During the golden hour, the pinkish hue of the sunlight on the desert’s rocks was unbelievably beautiful.

I enjoyed a long walk and photography before breakfast in the White Desert. First time I had an open sky breakfast in the desert.

Before driving back to Cairo, it is worth visiting the Mummies Museum. It is a huge burial site at Baharia Oasis in the Western Desert of Egypt.

On the way, we also stopped again in the Black Desert to take some more photos of the desert’s surreal landscape.

Another famous Siwa Oasis in the Western Desert close to the Libyan border, I wish to visit soon.

My two days one night Bahariya Oasis tour let me do many new things for the first time. It was full of fun and adventure. At the end of the tour, I also got a taxi drop at the hotel in Cairo. And then I came back with all the pleasant memories from Bahariya Oasis.
